Coming to the Netherlands as an international student
Under certain conditions, foreign students and employees are obliged to have a basic healthcare insurance according to Dutch law. These conditions are explained below.
Possibly some changes in the system are coming up soon considering the conditions stated below. Please contact JoHo, to make sure about the current conditions.

N.B! For most foreign students, nothing changes, as the healthcare insurance from their own country is sufficient. For this they need an "E-verklaring" (a document for students in EU-countries or EER-countries), which is offered by the insurance company in the country they come from.

Students and employees older than 30 who are staying in the Netherlands longer than 1 year.
When you reach the age of 30 during your stay in the Netherlands or when you are already over 30 when starting your study here, you are obliged to have a basic Dutch healthcare insurance, according to Dutch law. When you are staying shorter than one year you are not obliged to have a basic Dutch health insurance. You need to make clear in advance that your study in the Netherlands is shorter than one year. If not, you need to choose a basic healthcare insurance at the start of term, to avoid getting fined.

We can help you with a reliable, profitable Dutch health insurance. For more information contact JoHo at 071-5161276 or email to insurance@joho.nl.
