There are several insurance options for foreign students coming to The Netherlands. Which insurance is best depends on how long they will stay in The Netherlands, whether they have already left their home country and whether they have a contact person in The Netherlands.

Students under 30 who come to The Netherlands to study here, can not take out a Dutch public health insurance.

ISIS Incoming
Travel insurance, covers medical costs, repatriation, travel accidents, luggage (optional) and liability. Maximum duration: 2 years. Maximum age: 65 years. Three coverage options. Premiums per day. Coverage meets Schengen visa requirements. Dutch contact person or host family needs to apply for this insurance. Can only be taken out if the person to be insured has not yet left the home country. Incoming Student Insurance Mondial Assistance
Travel insurance, covers medical costs, repatriation, travel accidents, SOS-costs, luggage and liability. Maximum duration: 18 months. Maximum age: 30 years. Premiums per month. Coverage meets Schengen visa requirements. Dutch contact person or host family needs to apply for this insurance. Can only be taken out if the person to be insured has not yet left the home country. Young Global Traveler
Travel insurance, several insurance options: medical costs, SOS-costs and travel insurance (covers luggage, travel accidents, repatriation, legal assistance and liability). Maximum duration: 5 years. Maximum age: 29 years. Premiums per month. Coverage meets Schengen visa requirements. Can also be taken out if the person to be insured is already in The Netherlands. Coverage, benefits, premiums, conditions and online enrolment.

CareMed
International travel insurance. Covers medical costs, optional comprehensive package including luggage, liability, accidents and SOS-costs. Maximum duration: 13 months. Maximum age: 69. Can also be taken out if the person to be insured is already in The Netherlands. Also coverage for study, internship or a temporary job in The Netherlands.
